The 2022 World Cup Kicks Off in Qatar

The FIFA World Cup is set to begin in Qatar on 20th November 2022, with 32 teams competing for the highest honor in international football.

The top teams to lead in FIFA World Cup 2022

For some of the world’s top teams, the 2022 FIFA World Cup draw provided an easier route to the knockout stage, but others will need to draw a result at the start of their tours in Qatar.

Spain, Germany, Portugal, and a few other teams will need to be at their best right away to avoid an early letdown. Brazil and Argentina should have no trouble reaching the last 16 in a favorite group. We can count the Netherlands and France in that group too.

It’s easy to predict some group winners because of the talent gap between the top teams and their group-stage foes. Let’s check out the full squads, captains, coaches, and fixtures of the teams:

Group ATeams: Netherlands, Senegal, Ecuador, Qatar

The Netherlands appears to be the strongest team on paper in Group A.  Virgil van Dijk, Denzel Dumfries, and Matthijs de Ligt are the strengths of the Dutch team which will keep it ahead of the other three members of Group A.

The biggest unknown in Group A is Qatar. All players from the host country are registered in the domestic league, despite not having passed the trials for World Cup qualifying.

Group BTeams: England, USA, Wales, Iran

England is the clear-cut favorite to win Group B. It has players like Bukayo Saka, Harry Kane, Rahim Sterling, Marcus Rashford, and others players in the team who make the team strong. It’s difficult to predict the second team, but England should easily win Group B.

Group CTeams: Argentina, Mexico, Poland, Saudi Arabia

Argentina should outclass Saudi Arabia, Poland, and Mexico and secure a spot in the knockout round of the World Cup. This will likely be Lionel Messi’s final World Cup at the age of 35, which could give him extra motivation to do well in Qatar. Mexico will follow Argentina out of Group C and into the knockout round.

Group DTeams: France, Denmark, Tunisia, Australia

France would be in trouble if Group D were a tougher group, but they can easily earn six points from both Tunisia and Australia.

The two already scheduled matches between European teams in 2022 add value to a win against Denmark. France is likely to come out strong in that encounter to demonstrate that it will be a strong contender in the knockout stage.

Group ETeams: Spain, Germany, Costa Rica, Japan

Group E is one of the most hotly contested, with all four countries capable of mounting a credible campaign for the knockout rounds. Among the four teams, Spain and Germany have a high chance to go ahead.

Group FTeams: Belgium, Croatia, Canada, Morocco

From Group F, we can expect Belgium and Croatia to go ahead to the knockout stage because Croatia was the surprise team of the 2018 World Cup, as it advanced to the final, and Belgium made it to the semifinals.

Group GTeams: Brazil, Switzerland, Serbia, Cameroon

Brazil will face stiff competition from Serbia and Switzerland but the Brazilian team has star players like Neymar, Richarlison, Antony, and others who can make it to the knockout round.

Group HTeams: Portugal, Uruguay, South Korea, Ghana

Among the four teams, Uruguay is the most consistent team in Group H. But, we are unaware of what version of Ronaldo will show up for Portugal. So, from Group H, Uruguay and Portugal have chances to make it into the knockout round.

It will be interesting to see if Brazil, Argentina, Germany, and France end up as the top four teams at the end of the quarter-finals. Let’s see if Lionel Messi takes Argentina to world cup glory. Only time and playmaking will tell.
